Churches Missing Out With Picky Wedding Rules . . . .

We need a little romance injected into life every now and then.  How many of us fail to be lifted when we see a wedding car glide past us when we’re out on a Saturday?  Although it has to be said that this is getting to be a rarer and rarer sight in some parts.   In the bigger towns there are churches that still attract a goodly number of couples who ask to be married.  It all depends how strict the reverend is as to whether he will agree – not all agree with the sheer money making sense of it all!   Most diocese officer will have clearl set out rules about couples having to meet a minimum qualifying criteria such as at least one of the pair living within the parish catchment and they used to expect attendance at church, occasionally.  It is still a rule that the ‘bands’ have to be read out in the church notices for the four weeks leading up to the wedding – primarily to announce the match and to ensure that anyone who felt they had a good and reasonable reason to object, could do so.   No chance of a qujick nip up the aisle and racing off on a whim then!  With the huge explosion in wedding venue business in even the most unprepocessing locations, churches have rather lost their way and their own rules have left them behind.
